Overview

Nova Scotia is home to puffins, seals, whales and countless seabirds. Despite its small size, it offers a wealth of must-see attractions and experiences for the visitor.

As the second-smallest of Canada’s ten provinces, covering an area of 55284 square miles, Nova Scotia is also its second-most-densely populated. European settlement of Nova Scotia dates back to the 1600s when French settlers established a town at Port Royal, later renamed Annapolis Royal. Nova Scotia is home to the largest Scottish Gaelic speaking community outside of Scotland, many of these people residing in Cape Breton Island.

Being almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the province has plenty of coastline to explore and kilometres of highway to travel. It’s an ideal province for RV discovery. The lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove is perhaps the most-well-known landmark in Nova Scotia, visited by more than half a million people each year. High on the list also are Nova Scotia’s 87 National Historic Sites and two national parks – definitely enough to keep one occupied on an RV vacation in Nova Scotia.
