Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is a spectacular scenic drive from Whitehorse through picturesque Yukon towns and alpine passes to the rugged coast of Alaska. From Whitehorse, you’ll wind through the Southern Lakes region to historic Carcross. Ride the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway and visit local attractions before continuing south into the dramatic landscape of the White Pass area.

The Klondike Highway descends steeply to Skagway, the historic port that boomed in 1898 as thousands of prospectors passed through on route to the goldfields. Continue on your Golden Circle route as you catch a ferry to Haines, a pretty fishing port ringed with mountains. After exploring Chilkat Valley Eagle Preserve, return to Canada through the alpine heights of Haines Pass.

   The Haines Road passes through Tatshenshini-Alsek Park and Kluane National Park,    where all kinds of outdoor pursuits await you. Stay in lovely campgrounds, explore    mountain trails and stroll the boardwalk at Kathleen Lake. Or choose a more    adventurous pursuit like glacier flightseeing, horseback riding or whitewater rafting on    the Tatshenshini River. All of this activity can be based out of the adventure mecca    Haines Junction.

   Plan ahead for your Golden Circle scenic drive adventure by bringing necessary travel    documents as you will cross international borders and may need reservations on the    Alaska Marine Highway ferry.
