Additional Rental Charges
What are some of the additional items I can rent?
You can rent:
- Lawn Chairs ($ 10 each per rental),
- Bike Racks for 4 bikes ($20 per rental and only with our MH-A & MH-B vehicles). This will increase to $50 per rental effective 28 March 2011. Sorry we don't rent bikes.
- Child Seats ($ 20 each per rental). This will increase to $40 per rental effective 28 March 2011
- Portable GPS Navigation System ($10.00 per night - maximum $100 per rental)
- Toaster ($ 12 each per rental)
Sorry, we do not rent baby cribs. Please check with our reservations staff for the name and phone number of companies who offer this service.
Other items available on request (where available – ask on pickup for rental cost)

- Wine glasses
- Measuring cup
- Grater
For rentals during winter months the following items may be available (ask on pickup for rental cost and availability)
- Chains
- Electric Heater
- Vent pillows

What are CanaDream's one-way fees?
We charge $750.00 as a drop fee for all one-ways, except where the one way fee has been included in your rental package. One-ways require prior authorization, which can be arranged by calling our Central Reservations at 1-800-461-7368. Generally speaking, one way rentals are not available into or out of our Kelowna or Edmonton locations.
We are planning to travel to the Yukon / Alaska / Newfoundland / Labrador. Are there any extra charges?
There is a northern surcharge of $500 for rentals starting from Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal or Halifax with permission to travel on/in:
- Alaska Highway north of Fort St. John, British Columbia
- Cassiar Highway (#37) north of Kitwanga, British Columbia
- Highway 35 north of Peace River, Alberta
- Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut, Newfoundland
- Quebec & Labrador north and east of Sept-Iles
Permission is automatically granted to travel in above areas with pick ups in Whitehorse with the exception of the 'No-Go' areas of the Denali (North of Fairbanks) and Dalton Highways in Alaska and the North Canol Highway in the Yukon. Vehicles for northern travel must be expressly requested and confirmed at the time of reservation. Customers who travel to these areas without permission will be subject to a $900 penalty and will void all insurance coverage. CanaDream reserves the right to restrict driving access at anytime. These restrictions may be applied at the time of pick-up.
Is there a charge for an additional driver?
One driver is included in the rental. We charge $5 per night for the entire rental period per additional driver. There is no coverage should an unauthorized driver be involved in an accident.
If I want to travel to the US, is there an extra charge?
Yes, we charge $10/night for those nights spent in the US. If you are not sure how many nights you will spend in the US or you are not sure if you will travel at all in the US, we give you the option to call us on our toll free number (1-800-461-7368) to advise us of the number of nights you will spend in the US. We will process the fee on your credit card. Please be aware, there is no coverage should you travel in the US without prior authorization.
What are the charges for additional kilometres?
Additional kilometres over your paid allowance are charged at 33 cents per kilometre. Effective 28 March 2011, the additional kilometre charge will increase to 35 cents per kilometre.
Can I pre-purchase kilometres for my trip at a better rate?
At any time prior to pick up, you can select from the following options:
Upgrade from 100 km to 160 km per night - $18.00 per night. (Effective 28 March 2011, this will increase to $20.00 per night)
Upgrade from 100 km to 250 km per night - $44.00 per night. (Effective 28 March 2011, this will increase to $48.00 per night)
Purchase 500 km package - $155.00 (Effective 28 March 2011, this will increase to $165.00)
Purchase 800 km package - $240.00 (Effective 28 March 2011, this will increase to $250.00)
Please note however that there is no refund for unused kilometres.
