Overview

Located at the north-eastern corner of North America, Newfoundland and Labrador form the most easterly province of Canada.

Until 1907, the province was a self-governing British colony, then a British dominion. It became Canada’s tenth province in 1949. While Labrador had been part of Newfoundland since 1927, it wasn’t until 2001 that the province’s name officially became Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tourism wise, it’s the road less travelled. Visit a restored Viking settlement over 1000 years old, watch waves crashing onto the seashore below rocky cliff faces, see icebergs floating majestically through Iceberg Alley, explore the oldest city in North America – just a few of the destinations waiting to be discovered in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Please note that Newfoundland is within our Northern Surcharge area and a northern surcharge fee is applicable when travelling anywhere in Newfoundland.
