We require a valid driver's license (must be valid until at least the day after drop-off day) for all drivers. In addition, we require a passport for international guests or an ID card for our U.S. Guests.
If the driver's license from your own country is in English, you do not need an International license. If your license is in a language other than English, we strongly recommend you bring an International License, together with the license from your own country. For translation purposes, an International Driver's License will ensure ease of use in Canada and the United States. Please note that an International License is not valid on its own for driving in Canada and the USA. The International License must also be accompanied by a valid driver's license issued in your own country.
As numerous conditions affect gas mileage (wind, hills, speed, driving habits, etc.), fuel consumption will vary according to the conditions. As a rough "rule of thumb", you could budget about 25-30 litres/100 kilometres. This rough estimate is for budgeting purposes only. CanaDream offers no guarantee as to fuel consumption and will not offer any reimbursement to Guests where actual consumption is less than estimated on this website.
You must be at least 21 years old to rent a motorhome and hold a valid driver's licence issued by your own country. This licence must be valid until at least one day after you drop off your vehicle.
YesUnless U.S. travel has been included in your reservation at no cost, there is a charge for each night you spend in the USA.   Please note that U.S. Agriculture may not allow fresh meat, fruits and vegetables across the border.  If you are planning on crossing into the USA we suggest you shop for your groceries once you are in the United States. If you are not sure how many nights you will spend in the U.S. or you are not sure if you will travel at all in the U.S., we give you the option to call us on our toll free number at 1-888-480-9726 to advise us of the number of nights you will spend in the U.S. We will process the fee on your credit card. Please be aware, there is no coverage should you travel in the U.S. without prior authorization.
Yes. As long as you are picking up and dropping off at the same location, you are welcome to unpack your suitcase in your motorhome and leave it at our rental location. We are happy to store your suitcase until you return. There is no charge for this service.
This depends on the vehicle type. Canadian transport regulations state that each person travelling must be wearing a seatbelt. The number of people able to travel in each motorhome is dependent upon the number of seatbelts provided. The following table shows the maximum number of seatbelts we can guarantee in each of our vehicles.
MHA   6
MHB   6
SVC   4
DVC   4
TCA   5
There is a dash radio in every motorhome. CD players are not fitted in all vehicles. While many of our vehicles also have an auxiliary and/or USB outlet, we are unable to guarantee that the vehicle you receive will have this feature.
Televisions and DVD players are factory fitted in most of our vehicles. While we do not promote the availability of TVs with our rental fleet, we are happy to allow Guests to use the TVs if they wish. We cannot however guarantee that the TV will be operational nor can we guarantee reception in the many areas that Guests choose to camp. We do not provide on-road or technical support for TV related issues.
CanaDream provides Guests with 24 hour toll-free emergency assistance in the event of a breakdown or accident. One of our technicians will be available to provide you with advice and help.
If you are travelling with CanaDream in 2019, we regret we are unable to allow pets.  Service animals can travel in our RVs free of charge with prior permission and proof of service certification.

We are happy to say that, from 2 December 2019, our pet policy is changing and we will welcome your pet travelling with you with payment of a pet fee.  We ask that Guests tell us in advance if they wish to bring their pet and require Guests to ensure their pet does not cause any damage to the RV. Should additional pet cleaning be required at drop off, extra cleaning charges will apply.
Smoking of any kind is not permitted in our RVs. This includes cigarettes and recreational cannibis. If cigarette or cannibis use is detected in the unit at drop-off, a defuming and sanitizing charge will be applied. See our pricing page for current charge.
Our largest RVs are designed to accommodate up to 6 people. This is determined not by the number of sleeping places in the RV, but by the number of seatbelts. Under Canadian law, every person seated in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt. The maximum number of seat belts in any of our vehicles is six.
Yes. Before boarding the ferry, you must comply with all regulations for the ferry you are travelling on. Please be aware that many ferries within Canada may refuse to carry motorhomes with a propane tank capacity of more than 65 litres. This is particularly true in the province of Quebec. The propane tanks on our motorhomes comply with the ferry regulations however CanaDream cannot be held responsible for any refusal by the ferry company to carry your RV.
Only 1-ply toilet paper is suitable for use in our RVs. This breaks down quicker than 2 and 3 ply paper and doesn't clog the sewage system. 1-ply toilet paper is available from RV supply stores and some supermarkets. It is also sold at CanaDream locations. Please note that Guests are responsible for the cost of clearing clogged tanks where the incorrect toilet paper has been used.
Yes, we are happy to offer one-ways between our locations. These do require prior authorization, which can be arranged by calling CanaDream Central at 1-888-480-9726. Yes. We are happy for our Guests to travel on this road between 15 May and 14 September. Travel on the Dempster Highway in the Yukon is not permitted between 15 September and 14 May due to road conditions. Please note that, while this road is arguably one of Canada's most epic road trips, Guests need to be aware that road conditions can change rapidly and the area is remote. Cellphone coverage is sparse. Ensure you are properly prepared to travel this highway.
Years of experience renting RVs to visitors around the world has shown that RV awnings are a frequently  damaged item, resulting in expensive repair bills for Guests and unnecessary disruption to their vacations. For this reason we have made the reluctant decision to disable these for Guest use and wish to apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by our decision.
Generators are factory fitted to most of our units.  Our TCA truck and camper category does not have generators, nor do some of our deluxe van campers (DVC) models. Between 1 October and 30 April, generator use is free of charge. From 1 May to 30 September, Guests are welcome to have unlimited use of the generator at a nightly rate to a maximum of $100. We do not guarantee that the vehicle you receive at pick up will be equipped with a generator.

See our current pricing sheet for more details.
It has for many decades been the accepted position of our Insurance providers and licensing authorities that tourists with valid passenger vehicle driver's licenses may rent a motor home in Canada and will be considered authorized and legitimately qualified to operate the vehicle.  Guests with a valid license are able to legitimately rent and operate a motor home with the full confidence and knowledge of valid insurance coverage.
We schedule the pick-up time of our vehicles between 13:00 and 16:00 from Monday to Sunday (Monday to Saturday between 1 October and 30 April.)  Arriving at a station without a scheduled pick-up time may result in delays.

Phoning us on the morning of your pick-up to schedule a time will minimize your wait at our location and assist you in getting on the road as quickly as possible. Before you pick up your vehicle, we need to ensure it has been cleaned thoroughly and checked mechanically, so your pick-up time will be allocated based on the ready time of your RV. Toll-free numbers for each station can be found under the Locations menu on this page.

You can also call to arrange transportation to the station from airport or airport area hotels. We would like to make your experience as pleasant and efficient as possible but do require your co-operation!

From the time you arrive until you leave our station, it may take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. Please count on approximately ½ hour for the paper work. The personalized vehicle instruction may take anywhere between ½ to 1½ hours depending on how familiar you are with an RV.

Allocating this amount of time ensures that all your questions can be clearly answered, and that you are fully aware of how to operate your vehicle before you leave on your trip.
We guarantee that all our units will be "ready to go" when you receive them. They will be thoroughly cleaned, with fully charged batteries, full tanks of propane, and empty holding tanks. If you have chosen to include our convenience kit option, we will ensure that they are complete and that they have been placed in your vehicle.
Yes.  From May 1 to September 30, CanaDream is open on Sundays and our normal pick-up and drop-off times apply.  From October 1 to April 30, we are open on Sundays on request only and a fee per occurrence may apply. Our Edmonton location is closed on Sundays year round.
A refundable $750.00 ($1,500.00 for a driver between 21 to 24 years inclusive) security deposit will be processed on a credit card at the time of pick up. This deposit MUST be made by credit card and will be refunded to the same card at drop off as long as the vehicle is returned in a clean and undamaged condition with all equipment and/or convenience kits returned. In addition, an open credit card imprint is taken with all rentals and it will be destroyed at the time of drop-off.
Sorry. We do not allow anything to be towed behind our vehicles. Your insurance coverage with CanaDream will not cover any damage to the RV if you are towing anything.
We do not allow the transportation of canoes or other objects on the roofs of our vehicles. To prevent accidents, we do not install ladders on our vehicles. There is no coverage for any type of accident as a result of transporting an object on the roof of the vehicle.
Insurance against damage to your RV and to third party property is included in your rental cost.  There is a minimum deductible applicable of $750 ($1,500 for drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 years inclusive).  This deductible however is dependent upon the type of accident or incident which has occurred while the vehicle is in the possession of the Guest.  Please make yourself familiar with the complete details of the insurance coverage included with your booking prior to picking up your RV.
Please go to our Terms and Conditions page for full details. You will be required to sign this document when you pick up your vehicle. We recommend you take the time to read this prior to arrival so you are familiar with these terms.

Normal drop-off times are between 08:00 and 10:00.  You do not need to book a time to drop-off your vehicle.  Please ensure you are back at your drop-off location and all your possessions are removed from the vehicle no later than 10:00.  If you have a late drop-off, this will be noted on your Rental Agreement and, in this instance, you may return your vehicle anytime before 15:00.

As long as the vehicle is returned in a clean, undamaged condition with all equipment and/or convenience kits returned (and holding tanks emptied), the drop-off takes approximately ½ hour.  If you require a ride to the airport or to an airport hotel, additional time may need to be allocated for the shuttle transportation.
Yes, unless you have purchased our optional Platinum package at pick up, both the gray and black water tanks must be emptied at an appropriate dump station before the unit is returned. If the vehicle is returned without being emptied, a charge applies.

See our current pricing sheet for more details.
You will receive the vehicle with at least ¼ tank of fuel. You must return it with the fuel at the same level as pick up or you will be charged a fuel fee. Propane tanks may be returned empty.  We do not offer a refund if the vehicle is returned with more fuel than at pickup.  The Vehicle Specification page on our website provides you with the fuel tank capacity for each of our vehicle types. You are welcome to use this as a rough guide in calculating the number of litres required to return the vehicle at the same fuel level as pick up.

Guests are required at pick up to read and sign our "Before you drop off your RV" document. This document is available in English, French, German and Dutch.
If there is any discrepancy between the wording on the English document and that on the French, German and Dutch versions, the wording on the English version will apply.

Please sweep out the RV, ensure the fridge is empty with any spills wiped out, and that the stove is wiped down so it is free of grease.  If you  have not purchased one of our optional "We are happy to" packages at pick up and choose not to clean your RV prior to drop off, cleaning charges will apply.

See our current pricing sheet for more details.

A late drop-off fee will be charged for each hour the vehicle is not returned on or before the drop-off time stated in your rental agreement. The maximum charge for late drop-off will not exceed $600.00 for each 24 hour period.
Please see our Cancellation Policy page for full details.
While we are happy for our Guests to book for any number of nights, we have a minimum rental charge based on 7 nights year-round.  The cost will vary and is dependent on rates applicable at time of booking.
We are happy to welcome group bookings for all our unit types with the following changes to our regular terms and conditions for groups of 5 or more vehicles. A deposit of $500.00 per unit is required upon confirmation of the booking. Full payment is required 90 days prior to departure.
Over 180 days prior to departure  -   $500 per booked vehicle
179-60 days prior to departure  -   50% of the booking charges
Under 60 days prior to departure  -   %100% of the booking charges
Hours of operation differ slightly between locations and by time of year.  To view the hours of operation at any of our locations, please visit the locations page for that city.
Sorry.  We are unable to offer you a refund if you decide to drop off your RV before the drop-off date shown in your rental agreement.
We recommend that our Guests use the planning tools on our website to calculate the approximate number of kilometres they will require for their vacation.  As we do not provide Guests with refunds for unused kilometres, we suggest that Guests do not pre-purchase more kilometres than they calculate they will need.
Our fleet of vehicles is in top mechanical condition. In the unlikely event that a mechanical failure occurs, Guests are authorized to proceed with the necessary repairs up to $100.00. For expenses over $100.00, guests must telephone our on-road assistance team for authorization before proceeding with repairs. Replacement parts must be returned to the rental station for reimbursement. Guests assume full responsibility for damage to tires and undercarriage. Oil, tire pressure and coolant must be checked at each refueling. Costs for oil will be refunded upon presentation of receipts. The company's responsibility is limited to the refund of the daily gross rate, or portion thereof, if the breakdown repair is longer than 48 hours.

We make every effort to ensure our Guests receive the vehicle type they book.  However, if, for any reason beyond the company's control, the reserved vehicle is not available, CanaDream reserves the right to substitute a vehicle of equivalent value or offer a higher rated vehicle at no additional cost. Should a lower rated vehicle be substituted, the company's only responsibility is to refund the difference between the two vehicles. Although this is infrequent, accidents or mechanical repairs may force substitutions

The popularity of our relocation specials mean it would be very difficult for us to maintain an up to date relocation waiting list. Our rental vehicle relocation page is updated daily, so the best way to track available relocation specials is by bookmarking this page and visiting it on a regular basis.
Fuel is to be paid for by the person doing the relocation.  Occasionally we may include a small fuel allowance in a relocation and, if applicable, this will be shown under the included kilometres in the Relocation List.
CanaDream relocation specials are made available as a result of our rental requirements. Therefore, we cannot offer any special not posted on our relocation page.
CanaDream offers a certain number of days at the heavily discounted relocation rate. The number of days and kilometres are determined by the route you are travelling. Subject to availability, you may be able to hire the vehicle for additional days at our regular rate. Extra kilometres driven are charged at $0.39 per kilometre on vehicle return. For full details, see our Terms and Conditions.
These relocation specials are subject to the same terms and conditions as our regular rentals.  Insurance is included in the rental cost.  An insurance deposit of $750.00 ($1,500.00 for drivers 21-24 years) is required on a major credit card at pick-up and will be processed.  This deposit will be refunded at drop-off provided that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was received and not involved in any accident claims.

Our relocation specials include convenience kits, US driving and one additional driver. You must pay for:

  • any additional kilometres travelled over the included allowance
  • fuel, campground fees
  • any other costs not included as part of the relocation deal.
Our Saver categories are designed to offer out Guests a discount on their RV rentals.  Saver 2 is available to singles and couples while Saver 4 is available for groups of up to 4 people.  When choosing the Saver category, you agree to take whichever RV we allocate to you on the day you pick up your vehicle.  Within our Saver 2 category this vehicle could be our SVC Super Van Camper or our DVC Deluxe Van Camper.  At our Whitehorse, Calgary and Vancouver locations, our TCA truck and camper is also part of the Saver 2 category.
Our Saver 4 category will provide you with our choice of a Super Van Conversion SVC, MHB Midi Motorhome or a MHA Maxi Motorhome.
Some of our relocations are advertised as Saver only.  When you book the relocation the booking will show as Saver 2 or Saver 4.  While we will make every effort to assign you a vehicle within your chosen Saver category, we cannot guarantee that the vehicle you receive at pick up will fall within your chosen category.  We guarantee that the vehicle you receive will have enough sleeping spaces for the number of people travelling.
Our normal cancellation policy does not apply to Relocation Specials.  Full payment is required at time of booking and there is no refund should you decide to cancel for any reason.
You can view and compare specifications for our five vehicle categories in pdf format here.
We are happy to offer our Guests optional packages to enable them to have peace of mind on their RV vacations and enjoy their holiday until the last possible moment.  Our "We are happy to" options range from windshield coverage to bringing the RV back without emptying the grey and black water tanks or cleaning the interior or exterior of the vehicle.  Please view our "We are happy to" leaflets here in English, French, German and Dutch for complete information on inclusions.
Driving in Canada may differ from driving in your own country.  Our North American Safe Driving video is available to familiarize you with driving and road rules applicable in North America.  This video is available in English, French and German.  Click here to view this video.
Yes. The fall months can be some of the best times to travel in Canada.  There are fewer people on the roads and campgrounds are usually not as full.  Colours start to turn from late September and provide some spectacular scenery along your travel route.  Fall also brings cooler nights, great for sitting around the campfire. While fall is a great time to travel, there are a few things Guests should be aware of when travelling at this time.  Please read  our leaflet "Information for Guests travelling in the Fall".   This information is available in English, French, German and Dutch.
