General FAQ

How do I reserve a vehicle?

Select your pickup and dropoff locations and dates in the booking box on the left, click on "Rent an RV" and away you go! CanaDream's real-time availability and pricing will let you see the price of your RV vacation immediately.

A booking is only confirmed when we receive a $300.00 deposit. If the booking date falls 30 days prior to the pick up day, then we will require full payment at the time of booking. Please contact our reservations department between 08:00 and 17:00 MST Monday to Saturday at 1-800-461-7368 (toll free within North America), or 403-291-1000 if calling from Calgary, Alberta.  You may also contact us by email at booking@canadream.com.

When is full payment required?

Full payment is required 30 days prior to the pick up day.

Are the prices in CDN$ or in US$?

Unless otherwise stated, all prices are in Canadian Dollars.

Are taxes included in the prices?

Yes. They will be automatically calculated and added to your reservation.

What papers do I require for renting the vehicle?

We require a valid driver's license (must be valid until at least the day after drop-off day) for all drivers. In addition, we require a passport for international guests or an ID card for our US guests.

Do I need an International Driver's license?

No. However, for translation purposes, an International Driver's license will ensure ease of use in Canada and the United States.

What is the extra kilometre cost if I go over?

The cost per extra kilometre is $0.35.

What type of gas mileage can I expect with my rental vehicle?

As numerous conditions affect gas mileage (wind, hills, speed, driving habits, etc.),  fuel consumption will vary according to the conditions. As a rough "rule of thumb", you could budget about 25 litres/100 kilometres.

What is the Minimum Rental Age?

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a motorhome and hold a valid driver's licence issued by your own country. This licence must be valid until at least one day after you drop off your vehicle.

Can I travel into the USA with my rental vehicle?

Yes. Unless US travel has been included in your rental at no cost, you will be charged $10.00 for each night you spend in the USA. Simply call our toll free number on 1-800-461-7368 when you cross into the United States and call us again when you re-enter Canada. We will charge you for the nights spent in the USA when you drop-off your vehicle.

Please also note that U.S. Agriculture may not allow fresh meat, fruits and vegetables across the border. If you are planning on crossing into the USA we suggest you shop for your groceries once you are in the United States.

Can I leave my suitcase at the rental station?

Yes. As long as you are picking up and dropping off at the same location, you are welcome to unpack your suitcase in your motorhome and leave the suitcase in storage at our rental location. There is no charge for this service.

How many people can travel in each motorhome?

This depends on the vehicle type. Canadian transport regulations state that each person travelling must be wearing a seatbelt. The number of people able to travel in each motorhome is dependent upon the number of seatbelts provided.

Are there radios and CD players in each vehicle?

There is a dash radio/cd player in every motorhome. We suggest that you bring an FM adaptor if you wish to play your portable mp3 player in the vehicle.

Are TV/DVD players available in each vehicle?

CanaDream has a very limited number of TV/DVD players available on a request only basis, with no guarantee of availability on pick up in some of our Maxi Motorhome (MHA) and Deluxe Van Camper (DVC) units.  CanaDream cannot and does not guarantee that you will receive the requested TV/DVD player when you pick up your motorhome.  If requested and available, a $75.00 fee (plus applicable taxes) per rental period will be applied at time of pickup.  Please note that TV reception  will be non-existent in all areas except major urban centres.  DVD players are formatted for NTSC Region 1 only; PAL format DVDs will not work in these players.

What happens if I have a breakdown while renting the motorhome?

CanaDream provides you with 24 hour toll-free emergency assistance in the event of a breakdown or accident. One of our technicians will be available to provide you with advice and help.

Are pets allowed?

Sorry, no pets are allowed.

Do you rent child seats?

Yes. We can rent our guests baby seats, child seats and booster seats. During peak season these may be in short supply so we suggest you book these prior to your arrival or bring your own with you. We don't rent portable cribs, strollers or playpens, however our reservations department may be able to give you the name and phone number of companies who can assist with this.

Do you rent RVs to accommodate more than 6 people?

The maximum number of people in each RV is 6.  This is determined not by the number of sleeping places in the RV, but by the number of seatbelts.  Under Canadian law, every person seated in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt.   The maximum number of seat belts in any of our vehicles is six.

Do you rent GPS Navigation Systems?

Yes.  GPS navigation systems are availabile as a rental option with all our vehicle types from all locations.   GPS rental costs $10.00 per day plus taxes with a maximum of $100.00 plus taxes per rental.

Can I take the motorhome on a ferry in Canada?

Yes.  Before boarding the ferry, you must comply with all regulations for the ferry you are travelling on.  Please be aware that many ferries within Canada may refuse to carry motorhomes with a propane tank capacity of more than 65 litres.  This is particularly true in the province of Quebec.  Many of our Maxi Motorhomes (MHA) have been built for winter use and have propane tanks with a capacity of more than 65 litres.  If you choose to travel in one of our MHA vehicles, we cannot guarantee that the vehicle you receive on the day of pick-up will have a propane tank smaller than 65 litres.  If you are planning to travel on a ferry, please consider booking one of our Midi Motorhomes (MHB) as these vehicles are all equipped with propane tanks smaller than 65 litres.  Our Deluxe Van Camper (DVC) and Super Van Camper (SVC) also have propane tanks which comply with ferry regulations.
