From Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, golf is a passion for many of us and golfing and RVing go hand in hand with each other to create that perfect golf vacation. Both are great ways to connect with others while still following the physical distancing guidelines so necessary to stop the spread of COVID19.

We’ve found twelve of the most scenic golf courses in Canada to whet your appetite for your summer 2020 holiday! Oh, and did we mention – some are also the most challenging!

Humber Valley Resort

Humber Valley Resort – Newfoundland

This course has it all. Challenging golf and dramatic views over the Humber Valley. Enjoy breathtaking vistas from most holes, meandering alongside river and lake shores. but particularly on the 18th which has a 400ft elevation backdrop up to the Eagle’s Perch. A perfect finishing hole!

There are a number of private campgrounds in Corner Brook and Deer Lake happy to take your reservations, all within a half hour drive of Humber Valley Resort. Cabot Cliffs

Cabot Cliffs, Inverness, NS

Arguably one of the world’s greatest golf courses, Cabot Cliffs has been carved out of some amazing Cape Breton landscape. Opened in 2016, Cabot Cliffs can only be described at dramatic. It’s will be hard to keep your mind on the game surrounded by such beauty.

Crowbush Cove, PEI

While PEI is home to over 25 golf courses – all pretty spectacular - our pick for the most scenic is The Links at Crowbush Cove. With coastline enveloping this small eastern Canada island, it’s not surprising that the views from this course are of sandy shoreline and rolling ocean.

The Algonquin Golf Course, Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick

Play some exceptional seaside golf at this historic course, first established in 1894. Located in the waterfront town of Saint Andrews overlooking the oft tranquil inlet of Passamaquoddy Bay, the course has undergone renovations and is now considered one of Canada’s top courses. The back nine holes in particular offer jaw-dropping views across the Bay.

Just minutes from Owen Sound, the Cobble Beach Golf Resort takes advantage of its location overlooking Georgian Bay to provide golfers with both enjoyable golf and spectacular views. Rates vary with season and time of day and can be booked on the Cobble Beach website.

For some challenging golf combined with breathtaking views in every direction, there’s little doubt that the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course delivers. Greens range from expansive and rolling to small and flat flanked by both river and mountain vistas. While the course is open for public play, tee times should be reserved well in advance. World famous golfer Bobby Locke has described this course as being “out of this world”.

Your closest choices for camping are the many National  and provincial park campgrounds in the area. Provincial park campgrounds are reservable by Alberta residents only. Private campgrounds are located only a 45 minute drive away in the Kananaskis area. Consider a stay at Rafter Six Ranch.

The award-winning Jasper Park Lodge golf course is one of the “must play” courses in Canada. Designed by Stanley Thompson who also designed the Banff Springs course, this course appeals to golfers of all levels. Stunning snow-capped mountain peaks rise above fairways set in the valley and tranquil lakeside views create an awe-inspiring setting for a great round of golf.

Greywolf Golf Course, Panorama, BC

Greywolf Golf Course, Panorama Mountain Village

Dramatic is an understatement for this course. With water on 14 holes and jaw-dropping scenery in every direction, the course was designed around the spectacular 6th hole which lures golfers across a canyon to a clifftop green. Located high in alpine country in the Kootenay Rockies of BC, this course serves up one of the finest mountain golf experiences in the world.

Tobiano Golf Course, Kamloops

Chock full of standout holes, the Tobiano Golf Course in Kamloops BC is both scenic and challenging. The course covers more than 1000 acres on the site of the historic Six Mile Ranch and offers a memorable golfing experience, not only for the great golf but also for the stunning views of the lakes and mountains stretching in every direction. It’s the highest-ranking public golf course in BC.

BC residents might be able to camp on a first-come first-served basis at nearby Steelhead Provincial Park or snag a reservation at Juniper Beach. Out-of-province residents should look at private campgrounds in the area. Closest CanaDream Club partner campground is Brookside Campsite in Cache Creek, a half hour drive away.

Kokanee Springs, Kootenay Rockies

Carved from the wilderness and lying along the base of the Purcell Mountains, the Kokanee Springs course is a challenging but playable legendary golf experience in the heart of the Kootenays. Its magnificent mountain setting serves up views of the Kokanee Glacier and surrounding countryside and is suitable for players of all levels.

Bear Mountain, near Victoria, BC

The Nicklaus designed Mountain course at the Bear Mountain Golf & Country Club near Victoria combines challenge with playability with some holes testing even the most seasoned players. Reviewers on golfadvisor.com have ranked this course as one of the 50 most difficult in Canada but don’t let that deter you. Its rolling fairways tumble through dense forests and the views of the surrounding mountains are to die for. Add in the Club’s Valley course and you have the best recipe for a couple of days of amazing Island golf.
