Explore the waters and shoreline surrounding Alder Bay RV Park and Marina on a three and a half hour guided kayak tour with Alder Bay Kayak. Using stable double kayaks, these kayak tours are suitable for everyone – even those with no prior kayaking experience.
As you quietly kayak along the shore you often see bald eagles dotting the trees and curious harbour seals popping their heads above the water as you pass.

Your guides will be on the lookout for wildlife like deer and black bears along the beaches, sea stars and urchins in the shallows, and seals and whales in the deeper water. Your guides will eagerly share with you their knowledge of the area and wildlife during your tour.

The surrounding waters of Broughton and Johnston Straits are also home to porpoises, dolphins, orcas, humpback whales and minke whales. It is unlikely you will see these larger marine mammals during a short kayak day tour, but you might get lucky. If hoping to view whales during your visit we recommend adding a three hour whale watching trip with our friends at Seasmoke Whale Watching before or after your kayak tour.

Kayak tours operate within the unceded traditional territory of the ‘Namgis First Nation'.

The surrounding lands and waters are important cultural and resource gathering areas for the ‘Namgis and we take special care to minimize our impacts in the areas we visit. During your visit to Vancouver Island North it is highly recommend to visit nearby Alert Bay and the  U’mista Cultural Centre.
