With so much to do and see on the Gaspé Peninsula, you'll most likely decide to spend a few extra days here. For many people even a week won't be enough to experience all the Peninsula has to offer.
The beautiful drive encircling the Gaspé Peninsula offers magnificent views of the rugged coastline as well as mountain scenery. Visit lovely Forillon National Park; pause at Hyman’s General Store (seasonal), which inspires memories of days gone by. Take a boat ride out to Bonaventure Island and view the northern gannet colonies there. From the shoreline, admire massive Percé Rock and watch its colours change as the sun hits it at sunrise and sunset.

Take your time today as you travel around the southern Gaspé Peninsula towards New Brunswick.  The road winds it way around the coast for 200km until it reaches Carleton-sur-mer and you’ll find ample opportunity to dip your toes in the water or just chill out to ocean views.  Here, the waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence meet the Baie Escuminac and the Restigouche River, which narrows between Pointe a la Croix and Campbellton to enable an interprovincial crossing via the J C Van Horne Bridge.

Spend some time exploring Campbellton before continuing on Highway 11 to your overnight stop in Bathurst.

Today you can decide to take a scenic diversion en route to Moncton or just head straight there.  We recommend some island hopping and exploration of the area around Caraquet, Shippagan, Lameque Island and Miscou Island.  Both Islands are road accessible.  If you have the time, venture out to the Miscou Island Lighthouse along Hwy 113.  After, take Highway 11 through Tracadie Sheila and Miramichi to Shediac.  Stop here to view the Big Lobster before continuing on to Moncton. As this is a long drive, consider breaking it into two days, perhaps overnighting in Miramichi then continuing on the Moncton the following day.

Check the tide times today we’re heading to the Bay of Fundy, home of the world’s highest tides! Time your arrival at Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park to coincide with low tide where you can walk on the ocean floor amongst ancient rock formations. Then head on to Fundy National Park via Alma, where a side road take you out to a lighthouse at Cape Enrage.  Fundy National Park features rugged shorelines, bubbling streams, miles of hiking trails and numerous waterfalls. You circle route today takes you back to Moncton via Springdale.

Highway 2 takes you to Amherst from where you can choose various routes to get you to Truro.  While it’s a little off the beaten path, we recommend taking Highway 209 to Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, a rugged coastal park with old-growth forest, hiking trails, sea cliffs and campgrounds, before continuing on to Truro for your overnight stay.

If you’re planning to end your RV road trip today, it’s an easy 45 minute drive to our Elmsdale location to drop off your RV at your chosen drop-off time. 

If you have more time, how about adding our Lighthouse Route itinerary to your trip. At the very least, we recommend a trip out to Peggy’s Cove and perhaps continuing on to Mahone Bay and Lunenburg but the complete Lighthouse Route is definitely worth considering.  Our full Lighthouse Route itinerary will add anywhere from 5-12 days and 1050km to your journey.  Even if you don’t add the Lighthouse Route, it’s worth spending a couple of days in Halifax itself, either with or without your RV to enjoy all this maritime city has to offer.
