Seasmoke Whale Watching is the longest standing whale watching company on North Vancouver Island and offers personalized tours that showcase not only marine mammals and seabirds but also a myriad of tranquil protected waterways.
Conveniently located in Alder Bay Resort, 40 kilometres south-east of Port Hardy, the company is locally owned and operated and has earned a long standing reputation for their upmost respect of nature. Seasmoke aspires to bring present-moment awareness into the life of all guests while aboard their vessel.

From the comfortable seat and viewing platform on the boat, come and view the dynamic marine environment. You will be captivated and invigorated watching a local phenomenon, as numerous marine species converge to feed on prey passing through the pristine waters of Queen Charlotte Strait, Johnstone Strait (Robson Bight), and Blackfish Sound.

In summer, this area is considered the best location to find Northern Resident Orcas as well as Humpback, Minke and Bigg’s (Transient) Killer whales. To enhance your experience, the vessel “Seasmoke” deploys a hydrophone to broadcast the underwater sounds, especially the vocalisations of Orcas.

The 3 to 3.5 hour tours depart from Alder Bay Resort on Vancouver Island and Alert Bay on Cormorant Island.
