Soft Adventure Raft + Resort
Our journey began with a flight to Ottawa, the starting point of what would become one of the most cherished chapters in our family's book of memories.
Upon landing, the first order of business was picking up our RV. It was more than just a vehicle; it was to be our home on wheels, our cocoon as we ventured into the Canadian wilderness. I must admit, the thought of navigating this large vehicle was daunting at first, but the open roads soon became inviting, a promise of the adventures that lay ahead.
Our first destination was the OWL Rafting Resort on the Ottawa River, renowned for its Stay + Raft Package. Settling into our RV site, equipped with water and electricity, felt like claiming a piece of this serene landscape as our own.
The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the rafting trip. We chose the low intensity, Soft Adventure trip as this was our first whitewater experience. Also, our youngest was just short of 41kg, the weight restriction for the next level of rafting. It was an experience that brought us closer as a family, navigating the rapids with collective excitement and a bit of angst. Every paddle stroke through the swirling waters was a story in the making, a shared moment that strengthened our happiness of being together. 'Body surfing' in the river's currents captivated us the most. Feeling the current carry us, swirl around us, was a pure, exhilarating joy. The Pontoon meal cruise back to the resort was bliss. Relaxed, our thoughts floated back to the excitement.
Our initial plan was to stay just one night, but the allure of the resort and the joy of the day's activities made us eager for more. We extended our stay, determined to soak in all that this beautiful place had to offer. The next day was a blur of activities—kayaking, canoeing, frisbee golf, beach volleyball, and getting lost in the grass maze. Each offered its own unique joy, but it was the simplicity of soaking our feet in the clear water, sitting on the white sand watching our kids run splashing through the water. They were so happy and free. It was a reminder of the simple pleasures life offers, often overshadowed by the daily grind.
