Although Canada is the clear choice for anyone’s vacation, planning a trip can be stressful, especially when there’s so much to choose from. Here are a few steps that you can follow to help you plan the best vacation to Canada.

1. Pick the right time of year

The time of year you’re planning to travel can make a huge difference in where you’ll want to visit and what you’ll be able to do. When you visit will also have an impact on how expensive the trip will be.

Spring

In early spring, during March and April, temperatures can still be below freezing. In western areas, especially in the mountains spring temperature will be much milder. Planning your trip for the spring means you need to factor in the weather, bring the right clothes and plan the right activities. Towards the end of spring, you will enjoy milder temperatures and longer days, perfect for exploring. A bonus to traveling in the spring is the amazing blooms you’ll get the chance to see.

Summer

The summer is when most people plan their vacations to Canada. Temperatures are warm, but it very rarely will get hot enough to be uncomfortable to be outside. Since this is the ideal weather for most people, this is also when you’ll pay the highest prices, but you will get to see the very best of the summer weather and spend more time outdoors and in the lakes.

Autumn

Temperatures during autumn can we as warm as summer or as mild as spring… so plan for both. The Fall is a popular time for travelling as the colors are so spectacular and the roads and campsites a little less congested. Prices are lower too which makes a trip in fall more affordable. Anywhere you travel, you’ll see beautiful landscapes that only get better with the foil foliage.

Winter

Is often the most beautiful time of year to travel, especially if you like the snow and cold temperatures. With a wide range of resorts offering all sorts of activities and adventures as well as relaxation getaways, heading off in an RV can be a magical experience. Try something new and stay in one of Canada’s many campsites or park right at the ski hill to get the first tracks of the day!

2. Different ways to travel

Canada is the second-largest country in the world, so your trip will have to include a lot of traveling to and from the different places you plan to visit. Depending on where you’re thinking of visiting, figuring how to get around could be difficult. This can have a huge impact on how smoothly your trip runs, so you should have this solidified early on.

Flying

Getting from east to west in Canada is over 5,000 miles of travel. You might find that your main points of interest for your trip are spread out on different sides of the country. While ideally, you might want to take all the time you can get to explore everything in between, but that’s not always possible. In the interest of time, it would be best for you to travel by plane if you’re interested in visiting somewhere like Nova Scotia and then going to Whistler.

RV road trip

The best way for anyone to experience all that Canada has to offer is by taking a road trip throughout the country. There’s no better way of doing this than by getting an RV for your trip. This allows you to get to see all the top destinations while traveling at your own pace. With an RV from Canadream, you’ll be able to see everything on your list while staying comfortable.

3. Choosing your destinations

If you don’t know exactly what you’re interested in seeing, deciding on where to go can be difficult. Destinations throughout Canada appeal to a wide variety of interests, so everyone is sure to find something they’ll be interested in. Two of the most popular places to visit in Canada are its many national parks and cities.

National Parks

Nature-lovers should take advantage of all the stunning national parks that you can find in Canada. The views you’ll see at these parks are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Banff National Park is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, with its most notable feature being the emerald-colored Lake Louise, which is surrounded by jagged mountainscapes. Another popular park is Gros Morne. Here you can find fjords surrounded by huge cliffs and even see parts of the Earth’s mantle. Or maybe you’d be more interested in the prairies at Grasslands National Park, where you have great views of the wildlife. No two are the same, but you certainly can’t go wrong with any.

Cities

The cities in Canada are just as varied as the national parks. Toronto is the largest city in Canada, so it’s one that you should consider checking out. There’s plenty to do in Toronto, but one of the most popular attractions is the CN Tower, where you’ll get a view of the entire city and Casa Loma, the only castle in Toronto. A visit to Montreal will quickly make you feel as if you’re in Europe. It’s the largest city in Quebec and is filled with amazing architecture, museums, and dining. If you’re traveling west, you might consider visiting Vancouver. Many consider Vancouver to be one of the best places to live in the world, and you’ll soon realize why after you visit.

4. Create an itinerary

No matter where you end up going, you’ll likely have each day filled with activities. Before you leave for your trip, you might think you have a good idea of how you’ll spend each day, but it doesn’t always work out perfectly. This is why it’s important to create an itinerary each day before you go. This way, you’ll plan out exactly how long you’ll be at each place and how long travel times will take so that you know you’ll you have time for everything you’d like to see.
