The Ultimate RV-Friendly Itinerary
Here is our RV-friendly itinerary for 48 hours in Jasper, starting from Banff and heading wherever the open road leads you next.
DAY 1: GETTING HERE IS HALF THE FUN
Your Jasper adventure begins with a short drive on the Trans-Canada Highway before turning onto one of the planet’s most scenic drives: the Icefields Parkway. Connecting Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper, this winding road offers endless jaw-dropping views — think stunning peaks, glaciers and wildlife sightings around every turn.
The parkway features plenty of sights worth stopping for, but the most impressive is the Columbia Icefield. Here, you'll experience the Columbia Icefield Adventure — featuring two unforgettable attractions to enjoy together.

Park at the Glacier Discovery Centre and prepare for a one-of-a-kind glacier encounter. An Ice Explorer will bring you onto the 10,000-year-old Athabasca Glacier, where you'll stand atop a thousand feet of ancient ice. You’ll then continue to the cliffside Columbia Icefield Skywalk, an interpretive trail and glass walkway suspended high above the Sunwapta Valley.
Once you’ve caught your breath, return to the Glacier Discovery Centre to refresh with a bathroom break and a bite at Chalet before continuing your journey. Next stop: the mountaintop!
Drive a little over an hour to Whistlers Road, just outside the Jasper townsite. Make the turn and follow the road to the Jasper SkyTram. Enjoy a seven-minute ride up Whistlers Mountain, then stroll the serene and scenic boardwalk or hike the 1.4-kilometre (0.87-mile) trail to the summit. Stick around for an early dinner at the Summit Café, or complete the day at Terra — a regionally inspired eatery steps from downtown Jasper.

DAY 2: EXPLORE JASPER’S NATURAL WATERS
You’ll want to get up early to enjoy one of Jasper National Park’s most breathtaking beauties — Maligne Lake. Head out by 7:30 a.m. and stop for a coffee or snacks at the Crazy Elk Café. The first Classic Cruise begins at 9 a.m., and it’s during these early hours that you can best appreciate the scenery. Discover Spirit Island (accessible only by boat) and enjoy some of the Canadian Rockies’ most beautiful vistas.
After your cruise, head back towards town. Refuel for your afternoon adventures at Jasper Pizza Place, then spend the afternoon browsing downtown’s shops, exploring walking trails and stopping in at the Jasper Artist’s Guild.
To celebrate your last night in town, make your dinner reservation at Evil Dave’s Grill. Eclectic and delectable, the meals here are sure to hit the spot.

DAY 3: HAPPY TRAILS!
Time flies in the Canadian Rockies, especially with a fun-filled itinerary like this! Start your departure day at Andromeda Coffee, or stop for a familiar favourite from Starbucks. Then, bid the Jasper townsite adieu and begin the next leg of your journey.
