Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible for the Canada Strong Pass?
Everyone can get the Canada Strong Pass. The pass is open to you if you are a citizen, a permanent resident, a temporary visitor, or an international tourist here. The Pass gives some special benefits to kids who are under 17 and to young adults who are 18 to 24. This shows that the pass wants to welcome all people to join in these big events for Canada.
How do I apply for and use the pass?
You do not need to fill out any application for the Canada Strong Pass. Just go to the Parks Canada locations, museums, or VIA Rail stations that take part in this offer. You will get the benefits right away. You can read about the exact discounts, how to get in, and other options on their websites or when you visit each place. The pass makes it easy for people in Canada to use more of what Parks Canada has to offer.
Are there any restrictions on park entry with the pass?
Free entry is available only at national parks and marine conservation areas that are managed by Parks Canada. This does not include any provincial, municipal, or private parks. There is limited space at the participating sites for camping. To make sure you can get in during the busy summer months, get your reservation date as early as you can. Note that some Parks Canada locations are operated by third parties, and visitors may be required to pay applicable fees. Visitors are encouraged to visit the full list of Parks Canada administered sites before their visit to avoid disappointment.
Does the pass cover access to museums and galleries?
Children who are under 17 get free admission at the national museums and in the territorial galleries. Young adults who are 18 to 24 can get a 50% discount here. But there are some events or exhibitions that need tickets, and these are not included in the offer. It is a good idea to check with your chosen national museums for all the details. This way, you will know what you can get for free and what you may need to pay for.
What should I do if I already made and paid for a reservation or purchased a Discovery Pass?
If you previously booked and paid for a Parks Canada campsite between June 20 and September 2, you will receive an email with more information on the process to receive your prorated refund as your reservation date approaches. Discovery Passes already purchased and valid for the months of June, July and August 2025 will be automatically extended for an additional three months.
