Calgary
Perched in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, Calgary is home to a multi-cultural population, giving the city a true international vibe.
It's the starting point for thousands of visitors who choose to rent an RV from our Calgary location to explore Alberta and places beyond. But Calgary is much more than a starting point - it's a destination itself.
It's a city of contrasts, where small town heart meets big city conveniences, where the old west collides with modern day technology - a city that over one million Calgarians call home.
The old west is celebrated each year with the Calgary Stampede - 10 days in July where the city welcomes the world to "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth". It is alive at Heritage Park Historical Village, Canada's largest living history museum, where visitors are transported back to moments in western Canadian history. This Signature Experience attraction welcomes visitors year-round.
One of the city's largest year-round attractions is the Calgary Zoo, just east of the city's downtown core.
It is Canada's most visited zoo with some of its most popular exhibits being the Penguin Plunge and the Penguin Walk.
360 degree views of the landscape surrounding Calgary are best seen from the observation deck of the Calgary Tower, and other downtown areas worth exploring are the Stephens Avenue Walk, the Peace Bridge, Olympic Plaza and the Glenbow Museum. More information about Calgary's top attractions can be found in our blog.
Fall and winter bring hockey fervour to the city. If you happen to be in Calgary when the Flames are playing a game at Scotiabank Saddledome, be sure to snag yourself some tickets - it's part of the true Canadian experience!
Many of our Alberta RV trip itineraries begin in Calgary. For a short itinerary close to Calgary, check out the Canadian Badlands Trail and discover the largest collection of dinosaur skeletons in the world. If ancient bones aren't your thing, how about a Rocky Mountain Expedition or a Hot Springs Adventure ?
Feel the Energy
From the vibrant downtown core to the bustle of the surrounding communities, it's easy to feel the energy in Canada's 5th largest city.
Mountains, Prairies, People
With the Canadian Rockies to the west and expansive prairies to the east, Calgary has has a vibrancy of its own - but it's her people which make Calgary unique.
